My name is Debora Romano, I was born in 1974 in the city of Catania in Sicily, a vibrant city over looking the most active volcano in Europe…
I was born and raised in Catania by my mother, who was the founder of a popular bakery in the area at the time… my mother would bake bread, biscuits and pastries for the locals and i and my sisters spent a lot of our youth, in the bakery helping our mother and learning the craft.
Growing up in the beautiful areas of Catania, it was almost impossible not to be fascinated by what the island had to offer, skipping through the markets in the morning sunshine that set up in the city centre daily, I began to be obsessed with its food culture and diverse cuisine…
A walk through Catania’s famous fish market was always enough to spark my passion and it was from a young age that my passion for food began to blossom!
In 1994, after my marriage, I gave birth to my oldest son Vincenzo and in 1998 my youngest son Emanuele was born.
At the time, Italy had been subject to a huge recession that sent a vast amount of the population into poverty, and it was with sadness and tears in our eyes that we made the decision to emigrate to the UK with our two children!
The UK provided us with everything we have today and although we miss our beautiful country, we cannot thank the UK enough for what it has allowed us to achieve in life.
After owning multiple family run bakery’s throughout the years, our dream of owning a family run restaurant has finally become a reality!
I’m proud to say that our fantastic restaurant is owned by my self and my son Emanuele and all of our food is prepared and served with the help of both of my sons!
Our mission is to continue to serve authentic Sicilian Food to the City of Hull using only the finest ingredients available to us, we don’t claim to be a fancy restaurant, we don’t claim to be 5 star ,all of our customers are our friends, and we invite you to come and eat in our home!
